EUGENE, Ore. — Some central characters from a night of middle-distance and distance races Friday night at the Olympic track & field trials:

•Jordan Hasay: The rising senior at Mission College Prep in San Luis Obispo had her bags packed Friday for a trip to the World Junior Championships in Poland. Some 11th-hour rearranging allowed her to stay around and depart Monday.
