Millrose Games HS Recap: Quincy Wilson Gets Sophomore Class 600 Record, Moves to No. 2 All-Time

Quincy Wilson of Bullis School MD broke the sophomore class record and achieved the No. 2 all-time high school performance in the 600 meters with his victory Sunday in 1:17.36 at the 116th Millrose Games at The Armory in New York City. Jaden Machan of Leonia NJ, who beat Wilson in late December, finished second in 1:17.96.

Adaejah Hodge of Montverde Academy FL also won the girls 60-meter dash in 7.25 seconds. She caught McKenzie Travis of Fort Myers FL at the line to pull out the win. Travis was timed in 7.26 seconds.

Hodge also ran the second leg on her team's 4x200 relay, which came up just .03 seconds short of the national high school record with a time of 1:34.78. Bullis, which owns the record time from 2018, finished second in 1:35.25 for the No. 4 performance all-time. 

Aleesa Samuel from Pembroke Academy FL ran a US#1 in the world-record women's 60-meter hurdles race won by Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, coming in ninth in 8.26. 

Carroll TC of D.C. won the boys 4x200 relay in 1:26.34 to break a meet record. It was a bit short of the team's season best, which is US#1. Bullis, with Wilson on the anchor, was second in US#4 1:26.65. 

Alivia Williams got off to a quick start to take the lead in the girls 600 meters and she stayed in front of her teammate, Michelle Smith, to win the race in US#1 1:30.79. Smith was next in US#2 1:30.96. Alison DeLisi (William Penn Charter PA) ran 1:31.26 for US#3.

Jelani Watkins from Houston (Atascocita TX), an LSU football recruit, ran US#3 6.68 to win the boys 60 dash. Ajani Dwyer of Washington Township NJ was second in 6.76.

Caine Stanley from Bradenton FL (IMG Academy) ran a US#1 and No. 5 all-time 32.85 to win the boys 300 meters, passing Jayden Mims-Horton (Imhotep Charter PA) on the homestretch. Mims-Horton finished in 32.94. 

In the boys mile, the big day for Florida athletes was capped by Riley Smith from Gainesville, Fla. (Buchholz), who broke the meet record with 4:05.05. Smith was passed by T. J. Hansen of Freeland, Mich. before kicking back into the lead and taking the win. Hansen, a junior, was also under the meet record with 4:05.87. 

Samantha Humphries of Flower Mound TX won the girls mile in 4:41.43. She pulled into the lead after Elizabeth Leachman (Boerne Champion TX) took the pace out in 66 seconds and 2:16.47 at the half. Leachman faded late and finished eighth. Humphries won by nearly three seconds. Dylan McElhinney of Hunter College NY ran a six-second personal best to take second in 4:44.19. 

Sydney Sutton of Bullis School MD won the girls 300 meters in 37.51 seconds. Montverde's Skyler Franklin, running in the previous heat, ran 37.56, which held up for second. 

Veronica Vacca from Flourtown, Pa. (Mt. St. Joseph Academy) won the girls pole vault with her clearance at 13-9.25 (4.20m) and then also made a new personal record 14-1.25 (4.30m). Vacca, a junior, is US#2.

DeMatha Catholic of Maryland won the boys 4x800 relay in a US#1 time of 7:48.07. Bishop McNamara MD was second with 7:51.49. 

The girls 4x800 produced the top three times in the country this winter. Padua DE ran 8:49.86 for No. 3 all-time. Anna Bockius (2:13.62), Sophia Holgado (2:12.96), Kelsey Wolff (2:14.24) and Mary Flanagan (2:09.05) pulled away from Delaware rival Tatnall (8:56.83) and Union Catholic NJ (8:59.98). 

Sydnee Burr from Cypress TX broke a meet record when she jumped 40-8.25 (12.40m) to win the girls triple jump.

Xavier Drumgoole from Round Rock TX won the boys triple jump with 49-8.50 (15.15m). 

In an exciting finish to the Suburban Girls 4x400 relay, Winslow Township NJ edged out Timber Creek NJ, 3:49.50 to 3:49.59. Those teams moved up to Nos. 6 and 7 in the country. 

Newburgh Free Academy NY won the Suburban Girls 4x400 relay in 3:18.68 for a season's best time that ranks US#3. Winslow Township NJ was second in US#5 3:20.43.
