NEW YORK — Merely juniors, Southern Regional's Jill Smith and Manalapan's Robby Andrews went into their respective high school miles at the 101st Millrose Games on Friday evening looking to expand their still growing legacies.

Neither runner disappointed as Smith took home top honors, while Andrews closed quickly over the final two laps, but could not overcome Kyle Merber of Dix Hills, N.Y., who won in a time of 4:13.86. Andrews was second in 4:14.60.

After a fourth-place finish in the girls high school mile in her first Millrose Games a year ago, Smith had a much better idea of what to expect this year.
