Maggie McCormick, Claudel Marc Chery Win Invitational Miles At Apple Bank Hispanic Games

McCormick Runs US#1 4:48 Mile, DeMatha Catholic Boys Zoom To US#1 In 4x200 Relay At The Armory

Bay Shore senior Maggie McCormick ran the fastest mile by a high school girl indoors so far this season with 4:48.00 to win the invitational section on Saturday at the Apple Bank Hispanic Games at The Armory. 

The massive high school meet filled a day and half of activity at the busy track in upper Manhattan. 

A total of 518 boys ran in the mile over the two days of the meet and all the various sections. 

Fastest was Claudel Marc Chery of North Rockland, who ran a personal best and US#4 time of 4:12.53 to win the invitational section. Silas Gartner of Falmouth MA was second in US#6 4:13.77 and a total of six boys broke 4:16. 

The DeMatha Catholic MD boys ran a time of 1:26.69 for a new meet record at US#1 in the 4x200 relay. That was also a school record and the 18th fastest time in history. Individually, DM's Larry Jordan III won the 200 in US#10 21.78. Right behind the Stags in the 4x200, Bishop McNamara MD ran 1:27.23 for US#2. 

The Haverford School For Boys PA became the first 4x400 relay squad to go under 3:20 this season and achieved a US#1 with 3:19.03.

In the girls 3,000 meters, Olivia Digaetano of Connetquot NY ran a US#1 time of 9:49.23.  

Yet another nation-leading performance came out of a high quality race in the girls 400 meters. Breanne Barnett of Baldwin NY ran US#1 54.40 to defeat Jane Hickey of Ursuline School NY, who was next in US#2 54.86. 

Destiny Coleman of Woodlawn MD ran a meet record time of 7.72 seconds for a meet record and US#2 in the 55-meter hurdles. Jasmine Jackson of Winslow Township NJ was second in a US#4 time of 7.90. 

In a great close to the girls 4x800 relay, Ridgewood NJ edged out River Hill MD, US#2 9:23.13 to US#3 9;23.16. 

Bishop McNamara MD edged out Winslow Township NJ in the girls 4x200 relay, US#3 1:40.27 to US#4 1:40.48. 

Ciaran Brosnan of Union Catholic NJ won the boys 800 with a US#3 time of 1:52.77, just ahead of Karil Arnold of St. John's College, who ran 1:53,03 for US#4.

In the girls 55-meter dash Janelia Williams from Paul Robeson NY won in a photo finish over Amirah Nesmith of Cheltenham PA, by one-thousandth of a second. They were both timed in 7.03 seconds. 

Tyler O'Garro from North Brunswick Twp NJ became the third high jumper in the country to clear 7 feet and he moved to US#3 in the event. 

Pole vaulter Luke Beattie of Warwick Valley NY missed three attempts at 17 feet and settled for a win with a clearance at 16-3. 

Aaron Rich of Lyman Hall CT jumped 24 feet for a victory in the boys long jump and he also finished fourth in the high jump with 6-6. 

Charles Sullivan of Somers NY won the boys weight throw with US#7 70-2. 

Danae Morgan from Hastings NY threw 50-4.75 for victory in the invitational girls weight throw.
