Maxwell Runs Wind-Aided 22.25; Andrew Jones Moves to US#2 All-Time in 110 Hurdles

Mariah Maxwell made a statement on Saturday at the Texas relays, beating the collegians in the women’s invitational 200 meters at the Texas Relays with a 22.25-second performance.

Maxwell’s performance came with a wind reading of +3.8 meters/second — well over the legal limit for the record books — but it puts her third all-time on the all-conditions high school list behind Allyson Felix (22.11) and Dana Wilson (22.21).

The future Longhorn has been stellar to begin her 2026 outdoor campaign. She’s run 11.11 in the 100, already nearly two tenths ahead of her personal best from 2025, and in two 200 races, she’s run under 23 seconds twice (albeit with illegal wind in both races).

She’s ranked fourth in the world in the 100, and she’s likely to put herself in the top 10 in the 200 when she gets a wind-legal race.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jones (Klein Collins TX) proved that his wind-aided 12.97-second performance in the 110 hurdles on Friday was far from a fluke, clocking a wind-legal 13.15 in less-than-ideal conditions in Saturday’s final.

With a drizzle and a feels-like temperature of around 55 degrees in Austin, Jones torched his competition in the finals, winning by three tenths of a second and moving up to second on the high school all-time list, just seven hundredths behind Wayne Davis’s 13.08.

Jones has now run under 13.20 four times in the 2026 outdoor season — three times with illegal wind. Between his performances and those of Joshua Kai-Smith (Gar-Field VA), it’s no small possibility that Davis’s 17-year-old record falls this year.

CJ Williams (Frisco Heritage TX) put up a US#1 performance and earned his second win of the weekend in the shot put, throwing 21.09 meters (69-2.50). Last night, he threw 61.81 meters (202-09), a US#3 mark, to win the discus.
