Cain Evans, a senior at Carlsbad High, won the boys 800-meter title in 1:50.21 at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. Evans became the first male athlete in Carlsbad program history to capture a state crown in any event.
