Athing Mu Champion Women's 400m and 4x400m Relay - Collegiate Records 49.57 and 3:22.34 - NCAA D1 Outdoor Championships 2021

Athing Mu, a freshman at Texas A&M, won the women's 400-meter title in a collegiate-record 49.57 seconds and anchored the Aggies to a collegiate 4x400-meter relay record 3:22.34 with a 48.85-second split at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Mu has now been part of the collegiate indoor and outdoor 4x400 relay records, in addition to the indoor 600 and 800, as well as the outdoor 400 and 800 all-time marks. Mu became only the eighth female athlete in American history to produce a sub-49 split and the first since Sydney McLaughlin at the 2019 World Outdoor Championships in Doha, Qatar.
