Zach McWhorter of Brigham Young finished runner-up for the second year in a row in the men's pole vault at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. McWhorter cleared 18-8.25 (5.70m) after placing second with a mark of 19-0.25 (5.80m) in Arkansas last year. He becomes the first pole vaulter in BYU history to secure a pair of top-two performances at the Division 1 indoor championship meet.
