Dawit Dean, a sophomore at Emory University in Georgia, won the men's elite 800 meters in 1:54.17 at the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Dean became the first collegiate athlete to win the men's 800 since Finley McLear of Miami (Ohio) in 2021, in addition to becoming the first NCAA Division 3 competitor to triumph in any elite race in meet history.
