Here is an event-by-event breakdown of what to look for in these boys track events Friday and Saturday at the 48th Arcadia Invitational:

100-meter dash (6:32 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Green Valley's (Nevada) Ian Mack. Ran a wind-legal U.S. No. 2 10.46 at the Las Vegas Track Classic and is looking to become the first sprinter from outside of California to win the title since 2012.
Other contenders: Mountain Pointe's (Arizona) Paul Lucas, Vista Murrieta's Antonio Mitchell, Alemany's Dominic Davis. Lucas was last year's runner-up and Davis placed fifth. Mitchell has the U.S. No. 5 wind-legal mark at 10.57.
Sleeper: Carlos Salcido (Wyoming). The Rock Springs senior has a personal best of 10.66 and is motivated to make a name for himself on a national stage.

200 meters (8:35 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Mountain Pointe's (Arizona) Paul Lucas. The defending champion won't get a chance to race national outdoor leader Michael Norman of Vista Murrieta, but the matchup with New York star Rai Benjamin of Mount Vernon certainly won't disappoint.
Other contenders: Mount Vernon's (New York) Rai Benjamin, Green Valley's (Nevada), Ian Mack, Vista Murrieta's Antonio Mitchell. Benjamin and Mack are looking to eclipse 21 seconds and challenge Lucas, with Mitchell looking to represent well in Norman's absence.
Sleeper: Alemany's Dominic Davis. More known for his straightaway speed, Davis has improved in the 200 and looks forward to testing himself against an elite field.

400 meters (7:09 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Mount Vernon's (New York) Rai Benjamin. Coming off an impressive national-leading mark of 46.19 at the CARIFTA Games, the only thing missing for Benjamin is a showdown with U.S. No. 3 Isaiah Oliver of Arizona's Brophy College Prep.
Other contenders: Vista Murrieta's Michael Norman, Damien's Zachary Shinnick, Rock Springs' (Wyoming) Carlos Salcido. All three athletes have eclipsed 48 seconds, but will have to run at least a second faster to compete with Benjamin.
Sleeper: Long Beach Wilson's Mar'Yea Harris. The former Long Beach Poly standout, who has a personal best of 47.11, could surprise some of his California counterparts.

800 meters (6:44 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: McQueen's (Nevada) Connor Ross. Clocked a national-leading 1:50.75 to win the Stanford Invitational and has excelled on California tracks, both indoors and outdoors this year, so expect another stellar performance after a second-place finish at last year's meet.
Other contenders: Clovis' Connor Morello, Roseville's Arturo Sotomayor, Rocky Mountain's (Idaho) Michael Slagowski. Morello is last year's state runner-up, Sotomayor is this season's state leader and Slagowski boasts great range and toughness.
Sleeper: Carlos Villarreal (Arizona). Rio Rico standout is recognized more for his 1,600 and 3,200 success, but Villarreal won his 800 heat at Arcadia last season in 1:53.23, although he hasn't been in a big two-lap race since last year's state meet.

1 Mile (6:04 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Centennial's (Nevada) Dajour Braxton. Ran U.S. No. 6 4:10.61 at the Las Vegas Track Classic and has an opportunity to measure his talent against some of the nation's elite runners.
Other contenders: McQueen's (Nevada) Kai Benedict, Huntington Beach's George Gleason, Edison's Cooper Kossick, San Luis Obispo's William Ernst. Benedict is the national outdoor leader at 3,000 meters and all three California standouts are among the top 10 in the country in the mile.
Sleeper: Coronado's Erik Armes. Last year's seeded mile winner won the 1,500 at the Aztec Invitational and could be ready to challenge for the title.

3,200 meters (8:55 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Loyola's Robert Brandt. The national outdoor leader at 8:56.69 faces one of the biggest challenges of his career to win one of the best fields in meet history after a 14th-place finish in the seeded race last year.
Other contenders: Brea-Olinda's Austin Tamagno, Pocatello's (Idaho) Elijah Armstrong, Brookwood's (Georgia) Miles Yapp, Daniel Boone's (Tennessee) Adam Barnard, East Henderson's (North Carolina) Tanis Baldwin. Tamagno finished 14th last year at 8:56.86, but should be in title contention, along with the rest of the national standouts, all looking to eclipse the 9-minute barrier.
Sleeper: Arcadia's Phillip Rocha. Hard to call the hometown star an underdog, but Rocha will look to captivate the local audience with another impressive performance.

110-meter hurdles (6:16 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: John F. Kennedy's (Ohio) Chad Zallow. The New Balance Indoor Nationals runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles also has impressive credentials outdoors, with a wind-legal personal-best 13.93 in the 110 hurdles.
Other contenders: Simi Valley's Alex Billing, Upland's Joseph Anderson, Brophy College Prep's (Arizona) Isaiah Oliver. Billing and Anderson are both on the cusp of breaking the 14-second barrier and Oliver looks to continue Brophy's tradition of great hurdlers to compete at Arcadia, following Robert Grant and Devon Allen.
Sleeper: Branham's Aidan Kirwan. Rallied for victory at the Stanford Invitational and has plenty of potential in this event as the season progresses.

300-meter hurdles (7:19 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Brophy College Prep's (Arizona) Isaiah Oliver. Ran U.S. No. 6 37.14 at the Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational and is looking to capture the championship following a fourth-place finish at last year's meet.
Other contenders: San Jacinto's Ryan Muir, San Juan Hills' Connor Meech, John F. Kennedy's (Ohio) Chad Zallow. The top two intermediate hurdlers in California will test themselves against Oliver and Zallow, two of the country's most experienced competitors.
Sleeper: Carson's Justin Collins. Placed sixth at last year's meet, but his personal best is 37.33 from last season's state final, so he is capable of challenging for the title.

4 x 100 relay (5:29 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Chaminade. The state leader and U.S. No. 5 at 41.10 is looking to follow up an impressive performance at Pasadena Games in its biggest test to date.
Other contenders: Vista Murrieta, Notre Dame, Alemany. The Mission League has three teams in the field, all looking to follow rival Loyola as champion. Vista Murrieta is always formidable, especially if Michael Norman is part of its relay.
Sleeper: Upland. With Antonio Woodard and Joseph Anderson, this lineup could be dangerous.

4 x 200 relay (5:29 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Vista Murrieta. Was the national leader until the Texas Relays, but could challenge the U.S. lead again with a veteran group that should eclipse the 1:25 mark.
Other contenders: Cathedral, Notre Dame, Great Oak. Cathedral excelled during the indoor season and looks to continue that success in another race loaded with California talent.
Sleeper: Monrovia. Placed third at last year's meet, but will have to replace Cravon Gillespie in order to remain a contender.

4 x 400 relay (9:46 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Notre Dame. Took over state lead with 3:17.84 at Mount Carmel Invitational, but it won't be easy to win here with so many talented California opponents in the race.
Other contenders: Roosevelt, Westlake, Cathedral, Vista Murrieta. Any of these California lineups are capable of running a state-leading time and concluding the meet with a title.
Sleeper: Mount Vernon (New York). National 400-meter leader Rai Benjamin could produce heroics with his anchor leg, but depth could be a concern for the Knights against California's elite.

4 x 800 relay (5:08 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Nordhoff. The U.S. No. 4 following their 7:49.61 at the Spartan Relays, the Rangers are out to prove they can knock off several elite programs on the big stage.
Other contenders: Centennial (Nevada), McQueen (Nevada), James Logan. McQueen has an impressive 1-2 punch with Connor Ross and Kai Benedict, which could be enough to challenge Centennial and its star Dajour Braxton. James Logan was the California leader before Nordhoff.
Sleeper: Redondo Union. Last year's Arcadia runner-up has potential to again battle for the title, especially after tight battle with Nordhoff at Redondo/Nike Invitational.

4 x 1,600 relay (9:40 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Great Oak. The defending champion could have Isaac Cortes on the anchor and has already run 17:52.54, giving the Wolfpack a great opportunity to repeat.
Other contenders: Jurupa Hills, Madera South, Dana Hills. Even without national outdoor leader Loyola, it should be an all-California affair up front, with rapidly improving Madera South looking to take down a group of CIF-Southern Section powerhouses.
Sleeper: Agoura. The Chargers have great depth and have been waiting all season for their opportunity to compete against the state's elite.

800-meter sprint medley relay (6:28 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Chaminade. The Eagles have targeted two relays and could capture both. With state 100-meter leader T.J. Brock as well as state 400-meter leader Greg Campbell, the relay sets up well for Chaminade.
Other contenders: Mount Vernon (New York), McQueen (Nevada). National 400 leader Rai Benjamin should keep Mount Vernon in contention, along with national 800 leader Connor Ross for McQueen.
Sleeper: Damien. With Zachary Shinnick and Thaddeus Smith, expect the Spartans to be in contention for the title.

1,600-meter sprint medley relay (6:47 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Los Alamitos. The national outdoor leader at 3:28.34 will look to validate its effort at the California Relays with another strong effort against several talented challengers.
Other contenders: Long Beach Wilson, Great Oak, Lakewood. All three California lineups are among the nation's best, but Great Oak could surprise with Jordan McFadden, Damion Marshall and Isaac Cortes.
Sleeper: Centennial (Nevada). If the Bulldogs can remain within striking distance until the anchor leg, expect Dajour Braxton to have them in the race for the championship.

Distance medley relay (9:10 p.m. Saturday)
Favorite: Bonita. The national outdoor leader at 10:19.85 will rely heavily on sophomore Dillon Beckum to prevail against a loaded field of California entries.
Other contenders: Granite Bay, Palos Verdes, Redondo Union. Granite Bay put itself in the conversation following a 10:20.89 at the Stanford Invitational. Redondo had been a national leader and Palos Verdes won its heat at Stanford and continues to build momentum.
Sleeper: Great Oak. Like Centennial (Nevada), if Great Oak is contention heading into the 1,600 leg and Isaac Cortes is running the anchor, then expect a serious challenge from the Wolfpack.

4 x 110 shuttle hurdles relay (6:12 p.m. Friday)
Favorite: Brophy College Prep (Arizona). Last year's champions return three athletes from that lineup, led by Isaiah Oliver, looking to eclipse the 1-minute mark.
Other contenders: Mountain Pointe (Arizona). Rakevion White will try to guide the Pride past state rival Brophy College Prep.
Sleeper: Martin Luther King. Nick Abboud leads the upset-minded Wolves.
