Courtney Okolo debuts in 400m with collegiate record and impressive vaulting Highlight the WeekendPublished by Adam Schneider/DyeStatCollege.com editor on April 25th, 2016 The javelin throw by Hannah Carson (198-3) and discus throw by Kelsey Card (203-9) plus vaults by Megan Clark (15-2 1/4) and Alexis Weeks (15-2 3/4) cracked the all-time lists but the big mark was the collegiate record by Courtney Okolo in the 400m (49.71). Kelsey Card Wisconsin - At the Triton Invitational Card threw a collegiate leading 203-9 in the Discus Throw (9th on the all-time American collegiate list) and moved to second on the collegiate list in the shot put with a best of 59-2 1/4. Hannah Carson Texas Tech - She threw a near 9' pr to win the Michael Johnson Classic with a throw of 198-3 in the javelin competition to move to third on the all-time collegiate list and became the collegiate leader for 2016 Michael Cherry LSU - He ran the second fastest collegiate 400m time of the year in 45.17 and ran on the collegiate leading 4x400m relay that ran 3:00.38 at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Megan Clark Duke - Megan pr'd and improved the school and ACC record to win the Duke Invitational with a clearance of 15-2 1/4 and moved to fourth all-time on the collegiate list. Freddie Crittenden III Syracuse - He ran 13.48 at Auburn War Eagle to improve his pr and hold on third on the collegiate list. Burkheart Ellis Jr St. Augustine's - At the CIAA champoinships he won the 100m (10.28, +1.1. m/s) and 200m (20.36, + 1.2 m/s) as he took the collegiate NCAA D2 lead in the 200m and moved to #2 in the 100m. He was part of the winning collegiate leading 4x100m relay (39.44) and runner-up 4x400m relay team (3:12.39). Courtney Okolo Texas - Courtney's debut in the 400m outdoors at the LSU Alumni Gold meet resulted in a collegiate record 49.71 and established herself as an Olympic medal contender. She also ran a leg on the 4x100m relay that ran 43.81 and a 4x400m relay that ran the third fastest collegiate time of the year, 3:27.29. Keturah Orji Georgia - Keturah made her outdoor debut at the Virginia Challenge and now has the collegiate lead by more than 2' with her jump of 46-3 1/2, just 2" off her pr. Byron Robinson Texas - He improved his collegiate leading time to 49.10 at LSU Alumni Gold and moved to third on the world list. Alexis Weeks Arkansas - Lexi improved her pr to 15-2 3/4 as runner-up to Sandi Morris' 15-9 1/4. She strengthened her hold on third all-time among collegians in her freshman year. Henry Wynne Virginia - Henry won the Virginia Challenge 1500m to improve his collegiate leading pr to 3:38.05. More news |
