Prairie runs US#1 in the boys SMR

 

Drake Relays Highlights

 

Saturday

- World indoor champion Vashti Cunningham finished in a three-way tie for second place in the high jump with 6-0.75.

- After a couple of second place finishes, Linn-Mar senior star Stephanie Jenks won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:32.02.

- Ryan Schweizer of Dowling Catholic won the 1,600 meters title in 4:14.65 to go with his 800-meter victory on Friday.

- Albia won the boys 4x400 relay title with time of 3:19.59.

- Pleasant Valley edge out Assumption for the girls 4x400 relay title with 3:53.44.

- Jacob Smith from West Burlington-ND won the boys 400 hurdles in 53.12 seconds.

- Carly Donahue of Pleasant Valley won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.13.

- Cedar Rapids Jefferson won the girls 4x100 relay in 48.16.

- Cedar Rapids Prairie won the boys 4x100 relay in 42.37.

- Pleasant Valley’s girls hurdles crew broke the meet record in the shuttle relay with 1:02.39.

- Linn-Mar won the boys shuttle hurdles relay with a meet record time of 55.68 seconds.

- Assumption won the girls 4x800 relay with 9:20.49.

- Cedar Falls won the boys 4x800 relay with 7:52.14.

 

Friday

- Prairie Cedar Rapids won the boys 1,600 sprint medley in a Drake Relays record time of 3:25.94. That’s also a US#1 time.

- Kiana Phelps of KP-WC broke the meet record in the girls discus with 162-7.

- In the girls 4x200 relay, Cedar Rapids Thomas Jefferson broke the meet record with a time of 1:40.87. This same school broke the Iowa state record in 2015 with 1:39.24.

- Ryan Schweizer of Dowling Catholic broke his own Drake Relays record in the 800 meters by running 1:51.76.

- Joy Ripslinger from Assumption won the girls 800 meters in 2:14.07 and edged out Linn-Mar’s Stephanie Jenks, who was second in 2:14.37. Five girls broke 2:17.

-Tristan Wirfs of Mt Vernon won the shot put with a mark of 60-11.50. He won by four feet.

- Valerie Welch from IC West won the long jump with 18 feet and a half inch.

- Xavior Williams of West Burlington/ND won the high jump with a clearance at 6-9. He took three attempts at 6-11.

- Waukee’s girls won the 800 sprint medley (100-100-200-400) with a time of 1:47.11.

- Freshman Kerris Roberts from WAT-East won the girls 100 meters title with 11.77 running with a strong 4.4m/s tailwind.

- Isaiah Trousil of West Burlington/ND won the100-meter dash in 10.64 seconds (2.7w).

- Carly Donahue of Pleasant Valley won the girls 100-meter hurdles in 14.38 seconds.

- Joah Wallace from Prairie Cedar Rapids won the boys 110-meter hurdles in 14.35 seconds.

- The Linn-Mar boys won the 4x200 relay in 1:28.40.

 

Thursday

- McKenzie Yanek of Pleasant Valley ran 9:35.98 in the 3,000 meters and beat a field that included three-time champ Stephanie Jenks of Linn-Mar, who was second with 9:49.13.

- Tom Yezek of Northwood-Kensett threw 181-3 to win the boys discus by three inches.

- Sophomore Megan Durbin from Greene County cleared 5-8 to win the high jump.

- Erika Hammond from Clinton won a big dual against Kiana Phelps of KP-WC in the shot put, getting a sixth attempt winner (47-10.75). Phelps had established an early lead with 47-10 on her second attempt.

- Cooper Koenig from West Branch won the boys long jump with 23-4.50.

- Karson Sommer from Pleasant Valley won the boys 3,200 meters with 9:13.98.
