Let’s take a look at the freshman class and see who we’re honoring this week!

Boys Freshman Rankings     Girls Freshman Rankings

Ethan Geiger (Robinson High School)

Taking the top spot this week is Ethan Geiger of Robinson High School! Ethan made our top spot after he ran a new personal-best of 16:55 at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational under very hot and humid conditions.

Ethan has moved up in the freshman rankings, now sitting in second behind last week’s FOTW winner, Kayamo Galloway of Trinity Prep.

Geiger only has three meets under his belt, but he’s shaping up to becoming a very big force. He’ll be one to keep an eye on over the next few years. Just listen to that name! He SOUNDS like someone who you’ll be one of the top in the state when he’s older!

Alyson Churchill (Lincoln High School)

This week’s winner on the girl’s side is Alyson Churchill of Lincoln High School! Churchill ran her way to the top of our list after she ran 18:33 to finish second behind Fletcher senior, Kayley Delay, at the 2016 Katie Caples Cross Country Invitational. From start to finish, she gave the fans a chance to watch the classic battle of the classes ─ the senior and the freshman duking it out mile after mile during an incredible night of racing under the lights.

“I was really nervous coming into this meet, I knew there were going to be a lot of fast people here,” she said after the race.

The plan: stay with Delay as long as possible and see what happens.

“She is a really talented runner and I was excited to be able to race against her,” she said regarding her battle against Delay.

Now ranked the top freshman in the state with her personal-best of 18:03, Churchill is eager to see what she can do, saying that, in future races, she wants to try her best to run her own race and pace herself a bit better.

Congratulations to all of our freshman runners who competed this weekend! We hope you ran a personal-best, or maybe even won the race! Run fast, trust your training, and keep an eye out to see who will be next week’s DyeStat Florida Freshman Of The Week!

Remember, the future runs now.
