Alabama

Sophomore Amaris Tyynismaa of Montgomery Catholic ran 18:18.3 to win the Auburn Tigers Classic 1A-4A race and was 50 seconds faster than the winner of the 5A-7A race. Jack Rogers of Auburn ran 15:58 to lead his team to a dominant 1-2-3-6-8 finish and team title.

 

Alaska

STATE MEET RECAP

 

Arizona

Abi Archer ran 18:23 for a big win at the Scottsdale District Championships and she led Chaparral to the team victory. Michael Barney led Saguaro to the team title with 15:57.

 

Arkansas

Bentonville swept the team titles at the Lake Hamilton Invitational. The boys scored 24 points with six of the top 10 finishers. Jonathan Prince led the way with 16:01.5 for the overall win. Sophomore Tori Willis led the Bentonville girls with her victory in 18:58. The Tigers put seven in the top 13.

 

California

Great Oak continued its mastery of the Mt. SAC Invitational, sweeping the boys and girls sweepstakes titles for the third straight year. The girls have now won the Division 1 team championship eight straight years. Erik Gonzalez of Rubidoux and Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos of Cathedral Catholic both covered the 2.93-mile course in 14:37 for the fastest times among the boys. Claudia Lane of Malibu ran 16:32.6 to break the sophomore class record held by Sarah Baxter (2011). UPDATED ALL-TIME LIST

 

Colorado

In regional meets Thursday and Friday, Brie Oakley ran 17:13 at the 5A Region 2 meet at Cherry Creek State Park as Grandview punched its ticket to the state meet with 34 points. Oakley won the regional meet by 86 seconds. Cherry Creek went 2-3-4 in the boys race on the way to a team win, while Ryan Wallace of Cherokee Trail ran 15:46 for the individual title.

Battle Mountain swept the titles at the 4A Region 1 meet, with freshman Kasey Klocek taking the girls win in 18:09.1. Brandon Swenson and Weston Donati-Leach went 1-2 for Evergreen. … Tanner Norman of Classical Academy won the 3A Region 2 boys race by 40 seconds by Alamosa took the team win with 25 points. … The Palmer Ridge boys scored 21 points and the Air Academy girls won with 34 at the 4A Region 2 meet. … Isaac Green led Monarch to a 1-2-3 finish at the 5A Region 3 meet. … Lily Tomasula-Martin of Estes Park ran 18:10 to win the 3A Region 4 title at Monfort Park in Greeley. … Ian Meek of Montrose edged Maximilliano Martinez of Widefield by four seconds at the 4A Region 5 meet. … The Mountain Vista girls went 1-2-4 at the 5A Region 5 meet, while the boys held on against Rock Canyon, 68-69. … Arvada West swept the team titles at the 5A Region 1 meet. … Quinn McConnell of Peak to Peak ran 17:58 to win the 3A Region 3 meet by 13 seconds over Denver North’s Kayla Young. Freshman Cole Sprout of Faith Christian ran 16:31 to win the boys race. … Lauren Gregory of Fort Collins ran 18:31 to win the 5A Region 4 title but the Broomfield girls dominated the team competition with 25 points. Dylan Ko of Fossil Ridge ran 16:17 as Poudre edged Broomfield 55-62. 

 

Connecticut

Katherine DeLoreto ran 19:09 and led Tolland to a 1-2-5 finish but it wasn’t enough to overtake the depth of Glastonbury at the CCC Championships at Wickham Park. Glastonbury scored 52 points in the 26-team field. Joe Pearl from Manchester won the boys race in 16:34.9 and Hall took the team title with 60 points.

Georgia

Macki Walsh from Etowah ran 17:54 and edged Liz Galarza of West Forsyth by half a second to win the Area 3 Region 4 and 5 meet at Canton. Milton scored 53 points to win the girls title. Lambert put three in the top eight of the boys race to win the team title as Sam Bowers of Milton ran off with the individual win in 15:23.5.

 

Hawaii

Connor Lehl and Aaron Shiinoki of Punahou went 1-2 in the boys varsity race at the ILH Championships in Honolulu, but Iolani pulled out the team victory 29 to Punahou’s 38. Mia Schiel of Punahou won the girls race by 34 seconds. The state championship meet is Saturday on the Big Island. REGIONAL RECAPS by Ian Tsang

 

Idaho

Young stars Eve Jensen of Boise and Lexy Halladay of Mountain View raced for the first time at the 5A District 3 meet, but the race everyone was expecting didn’t materialize. Jensen ran off with the victory in 17:31.5, while Halladay, battling flu symptoms, was forced to drop out and did not finish. Halladay was taken to the hospital to receive IV fluids and her mother told the Idaho Statesman that the prognosis for Lexy’s participation at the state meet this Saturday in Pocatello was hopeful.

Indiana

The Carmel girls put five girls across the finish line under 17:50 at the Shelbyville Semi-State meet and scored 15 points to roll into Saturday’s state championship meet. Sarah Leinheiser ran 17:19.2 to win the race in dominant fashion. On the boys side, Curtis Eckstein of Oldenburg Academy ran 14:34.4 and junior Gabe Fendel of Hamilton Southeastern ran 14:46.3. Carmel scored 53 points to win the boys team title.

 

Iowa

Johnston put five girls across the finish line in 18:45 or better on the way to a smashing 15-point performance at the 4A Council Bluffs District meet. Sisters Jessica and Brooke McKee went 1-2 and ran in the 17s. Patrick Bose ran 15:35.9 for Johnston in the boys race. District Meet Results

 

Kentucky

Freshman Victoria Dotson from Rockcastle County ran 18:59.9 to win the varsity girls race at the KTCCCA Meet of Champions. Adam Huff of Lexington Christian Academy ran 15:53.3 to win the boys race.

 

Maryland

Rohann Asfaw from Richard Montgomery ran 15:33.8 for a 20-second victory in the varsity boys race at the Montgomery County Championships. Northwest scored 87 points to win in a 24-team field. Abigail Green led Walter Johnson to the girls title with her individual win in 17:46.7. She won by 50 seconds.

 

Massachusetts

Marcelo Rocha of Peabody ran 15:57 and Grace Connolly of Natick ran 18:31 to win the varsity A races at the MSTCA Bay State Invitational. The Lowell boys put five in the top 11 to secure the team title with 28 points. Lowell edged Peabody 77-86 on the girls side.

 

Michigan

Junior Colton Yesney from Negaunee ran 15:49.8 to win the Division I final at the Upper Peninsula state championships and he led his team to the title with 38 points. Senior Becci McNamee of Marquette won the girls D1 race in 19:06.4. Sault Ste. Marie won the team title with 34 points to Marquette’s 53. The LP finals are Nov. 5.

Nevada

A few teams travelled to Mt .SAC in California to get ready for week’s Northern and Southern Regionals.

Palo Verde (Las Vegas) was represented by Daniel Ziems, who ran 16:08 placing seventh in the D1 Red Race. In the D1 Varsity Green, Emma Wahlenmaier placed fifth with a 19:28. In the D1 Freshman Green race, Jessica Bialis won it in 20:52. In the D1 Sophomore Red, Evelio Vergara placed won in 16:51 as the Panthers captured the Division Championship.

North Tahoe’s girls won the D5 Red Race as Quinn Lehmkuhl placed third (20:11), Jillian Ferre placed fifth (20:53) and Elan Lindsey placed sixth (20:53). In the D5 Varsity Green, JC Schoonmaker placed fifth (16:58) to lead his team to third.

Tahoe Truckee’s girls placed third in the D4 Varsity Sweepstakes Red as Brenna Wapstra Scott was eighth in 19:05.

The Regional Championships are this Friday. The North is at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks and the South is at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas, site of the State Championships on Nov 5.

 

New Jersey 

Freshman Jade Tricomy ran 17:44 to win the girls varsity race by 54 seconds and led Toms River North to the team title at the Ocean County Championships. Sophomore Devin Hart of Point Pleasant Boro ran 15:28 to win the boys race as Southern Regional claimed the team crown. 

 

New Mexico

Jordan Lesansee led Albuquerque Academy to a dominant team win (35 points) at the Los Alamos Invitational with 16:04.8. Amanda Mayoral led Cleveland to the girls title with her win in 19:11.2.

 

New York

Noah Carey of Guilderland won the Albany County Championships by 30 seconds, in 15:41. Freshman Emily Bini of Guilderland won the girls race in 18:44.

Oklahoma

Daniel Mazzei of Berryhill ran 15:33.2 to repeat his Class 4A Oklahoma title as Lincoln Christian swept the team championships. Maicie Brown of Weathersford ran 11:35.7 for 3,200 meters to win the girls individual race. Class 4A | Class 3A | Class 2A 

 

Oregon

Andy Muha of Sunset ran 15:21.3 and got Jesuit’s Joshua Schumacher by a couple of steps in a three-team Metro League clash at Jesuit. Sunset also won it with 22 points. Ember Stratton ran 17:13.4 to win the girls race as teammate Kelly Makin was second in 17:26.7. Jesuit beat Sunset 28-33. Westview was third. 

 

Pennsylvania

Sophomore Christina Difalco of Pine Grove Area won the Schuykill League girls championship race in 18:50. She won by 41 seconds. The North Schuykill boys scored 18 points for a dominant win.

 

Rhode Island

Randi Burr of Westerly ran 18:40 and won the girls varsity race by 21 seconds at the East Bay Challenge. Matthew Walker, also of Westerly, won the boys race in 16:01. Chariho went 2-3-4-5-7 to win the boys team title; Portsmouth won the girls crown with 28 points. 

 

South Carolina 

Cate Ambrose led Riverside to an impressive score of 21 at the Greenville County meet, running 18:08.7 for the win. Eastside edged Riverside 78-82 on the boys side. John Ward of Wade Hampton ran 15:23.3 to win the boys race.

Vermont

Harwood Union swept the team titles at the NVAC Mountain Division Championships at Hyde Park.

The St. Johnsbury boys and girls teams were both winners at the Montpelier Invitational

 

Virginia

Loudoun Valley swept the team titles at the Loudoun County Championships.

 

Washington

Sophomore Joe Waskom and older sister Hannah Waskom of Mt. Si both won varsity races at the 52nd KingCo League Championships. Joe won the boys race in 15:30.7 and Hannah won the girls race in 18:28.3. Skyline’s boys and Issaquah’s girls won the team championships.

The North Central boys beat Kamiakin 31-46 at the GSL/MCC 3A Championship meet at Mead High School. Jacob Christner ran 15:54 and edged out Hayden Dressel of Mt. Spokane for the win. Freshmen Erinn and Mia Hill of North Central went 1-2 in the girls race.

Matthew Watkins of Henry Jackson ran 15:30 to win the WESCO League title as Glacier Peak won the team crown with 72 points. The Glacier Peak girls edged Edmonds-Woodway 90-93 to take the team title. Sophomore Taylor Roe ran 17:32.8 and won by 29 seconds.
