Jason Young, 2012 Olympian in Discus, Receives Four-Year Doping Ban

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

USADA announced Friday that 2012 Olympian Jason Young has accepted a four-year doping ban. The 35-year-old discus thrower has been sanctioned for use and possession of growth hormone peptides since January 2013.

Young's suspension began November 17, 2016, the date when he admitted to using and possessing prohibited peptides. He has been disqualified from all results dating back to January 24, 2013, and has been ordered to return all medals and prize money he has won since that date.

Young has a personal best of 229-4 (69.90m) in the discus. He made Team USA in 2011 for the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, and in 2012 for the London Olympic Games. Young finished 10th in the final in 2011, but was unable to advance out of qualifying in 2012.
