NCAA D1 Men's XC Team Rankings 9/20/17Published by
Top teams wade through early season resting top guys By Adam Schneider of DyeStat Sixth-ranked Stanford opened its season, following preseason training camp, at the University of San Diego Invitational. The Cardinal ran just a few of the runners that might make their top five at the end of the season and they still dominated with only 20 points. They will likely run their top seven Sept. 29 at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene. Top-ranked Arkansas ran at Iona Meet of Champions and ran it as a fast tempo run. The Razorbacks lost to Columbia after not running their top, most experienced runners. Seventh-ranked Iona ran without its top two returning runners but debuted six-time Irish junior champion, freshman Jack O’Leary, who finished second. Fifth-ranked BYU ran as a group faster than any individual has run in the past at its home meet, BYU Autumn Classic. Southern Utah won the UC Riverside Invitational with just 30 points and a 15-second spread from one to five.
