Olivia Theis Commits to MichiganBy Adam Kopet Olivia Theis, the senior from Lansing Catholic MI, has committed to the University of Michigan to run cross country and track and field, according to a press release from the Lansing Catholic team. “I am thrilled to announce that I have chosen to continue my running career at the University of Michigan," Theis said in the press release. "I am excited to run with the other girls on the team and with those coming on to the team and I am especially excited to run for Coach McGuire.” Last week, Theis broke the Michigan state meet course record, running 16:52 for 5K, while winning the Division 2 state championship. She is ranked fifth in last week's DyeStat Individual Girls Rankings. As a junior, Theis finished 14th at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. She also won Division 3 Michigan state titles at 1,600 and 3,200 meters, both in divisional state meet records (4:50.10 and 10:30.49). She also placed second in the New Balance Nationals Outdoor 2-mile with a time of 10:14.34. Theis joins Anne Forsyth, from Ann Arbor Pioneer MI, as a class of 2018 Michigan commit. The Michigan women were Big 10 Conference and Great Lakes Region champions this year. |
