DyeStat preseason picks to qualify for NXN:

Christian Brothers Academy NJ

Saint John’s (Tewksbury) MA

Current Prediction:

Christian Brothers Academy NJ

Kingsway NJ

Notes: Christian Brothers Academy NJ is in line to make it back to NXN for the eighth straight time. There is a level of certainty that CBA will secure one of the two NXN automatic bids, but after that it gets difficult to predict. Kingsway NJ jumped off the watchlist in the preseason to wind up the No. 2 pick behind CBA. If Kingsway can stay close to CBA it should be enough to win a trip to Portland.

There are several other teams in the Northeast that have, at times, run well enough to be contenders in the region. Saint John’s put together its best race and the Massachusetts All State Final. Saint John's was the No. 2 regionally in the preseason and is getting into form just in time. Lowell finished right behind Saint John's and could compete for an auto berth if it closes the gap behind its fourth runner.

Staples CT, Bishop Hendricken RI, La Salle Academy RI and Concord NH have all been rated in the regional top five at some point this season, but all of those teams were defeated by Xavier CT at the New England Championships. Xavier was not on the national radar until that win, but suddenly this team is a legit contender as well.

North Hunterdon NJ

Colts Neck NJ

Current Prediction:

North Hunterdon NJ

Fox Chapel PA

Notes: There are six teams that have qualified for NXN two years in a row out of the Northeast Region. North Hunterdon NJ will be looking to join that group and is trying to win the Northeast title for the second year in a row.

However, surprises have come to be expected in the Northeast. Last year, Souhegan NH was a surprise second-place finisher at the NXR Northeast. Souhegan does not look to be in position to qualify this year, but there are multiple teams that could.

Pennsylvania has three teams in the Northeast top five. Each team has beat the others at some point this season. Fox Chapel appears to be the best of the three, but anything could happen Saturday.
