Donavan Brazier is 493rd American Sub-4:00 MilerPublished by
Donavan Brazier Runs Sub-4:00 at Reveille InvitationalBy Adam Kopet Donavan Brazier broke four minutes in the mile for the first time Saturday at the Reveille Invitational, running 3 minutes, 59.30 seconds. He won over Leo Manzano (4:03.49). Track and Field News reports that Brazier is the 493rd U.S. runner to break the four-minute barrier for the mile. Thus far in 2017, 17 men have broken the mark for the first time. It seems likely that the 500th sub-4:00 mile will be run in 2018. There are only three weeks remaining in 2017, making the chances for seven more first-time performances making the list unlikely. The last time fewer than seven Americans broke four minutes for the first time was 2003 when only five men did so. The most first-time sub-four-miles were in 2016 with 27. More news |
