USATF announces rosters for Great Edinburgh XCountry International ChallengePublished by
Korir, Heath to lead U.S. men's team in Scotland Claudia Lane, Illinois trio named to junior squads By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor USATF on Thursday released news about its roster for the Jan. 13 Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge in Scotland. The event has become an engaging fixture on the calendar and one of the top international cross country races in the world. It also has paved away for some of the young U.S. stars to represent the country and get a taste of international competition. Leonard Korir and Garrett Heath, both past winners of the men's race, will lead a U.S. team that includes Chris Derrick and Ian La Mere. The women's team features Olympic marathoner Desi Linden, along with Molly Seidel and Natosha Rogers. The junior men's team includes Illinois high school trio Dylan Jacobs (Sandburg), Danny Kilrea (Lyons Township) and Clayton Mendez (Whitney Young). Jacobs is the Foot Locker champion and he will join Kilrea at Notre Dame next year. They will be joined by sophomore Graydon Morris (Aledo TX), the Foot Locker runner-up. Two-time Foot Locker girls champion Claudia Lane (Malibu CA) will lead a junior women's team that includes NXN runner-up Kelsey Chmiel (Saratoga Springs NY), Katelynne Hart (Glenbard West IL) and Iowa State's Cailie Logue. |
