Grant Holloway Breaks Into Tears After Breaking Omar McLeod's Collegiate Record in 60-Meter Hurdles

By Adam Kopet

Grant Holloway broke the collegiate record in the 60-meter hurdles Friday at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational. He ran 7.42 seconds in the win, breaking Omar McLeod's 2015 record of 7.45 when he was at Arkansas.

In the race was McLeod, now a pro, who finished second. However at the conclusion of the race, it was all about Holloway. The Florida sophomore started to jump and run around the track in celebration before he broke into tears, collapsing to his knees as the emotion of the moment overtook him.

The entire 60-meter hurdles field, including McLeod, came by to congratulate Holloway as he embraced Florida head coach Mike Holloway.

Holloway is now only 0.06 seconds off the American record set in 2004 by Allen Johnson and equaled in 2010 by Terrence Trammell.
