Head Coach Mario Sategna Leaves Texas

Head track and field coach Mario Sategna has left the Texas program, according to the University of Texas.

Associate head coach Tonja Buford-Bailey will take over as interim head coach, effective immediately. No other coaching staff changes are being made.

Sategna previously took a leave of absence from the program in the fall of 2016. Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman reported Jan. 11, 2017, that Sategna had been the subject of an ethics and misconduct investigation during his leave of absence.

Buford-Bailey, the 2016 USATF Nike Coach of the Year, has been the associate head coach at Texas since 2013.
