Karissa Schweizer Returns Home to Iowa to Take on Drake Relays 5,000-Meter Meet Record

Karissa Schweizer will chase the meet record in the University/College Division 5,000 meters April 26 at the Drake Relays, according to an event press release.

The Missouri senior is no stranger to Iowa. She graduated from Dowling Catholic High. Schweizer has twice competed at the Drake Relays as a collegian, including an eighth-place finish in last year's elite invitational 1,500 meters.

The five-time NCAA Division 1 champion owns a personal best in the 5,000 of 15:17.31, set in December indoors. That is faster than the meet record of 15:31.18, which was set by Cathy Branta-Easker of Wisconsin in 1985.

The Drake Relays are scheduled for April 25-28.
