Centro Sr Homecoming Celebrated At Manhattan

Who says you can't go home again?

Matt Centrowitz, Sr., who got his college start at Manhattan College before transferring to Oregon in the mid-1970s, was named the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field earlier this month at his alma mater in the Bronx.

Centrowitz enjoyed an illustrious running career and was a member of the 1976 and 1980 U.S. Olympic teams. He broke the U.S. record in the 5,000 meters in 1982, running 13:12.

He is also the father of Matthew Centrowitz, the 2016 Olympic champion in the 1,500 meters. 

He previously coached for 19 years at American University in Washington, D.C.
