Prominent Track and Field Writer's Home Destroyed By Fire in New YorkPublished by
Award-winning Track Writer's Home Lost To Fire By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor There is sad news to report this week out of New York, where sportswriter Nancy Haggerty may have lost her home to a fire. Haggerty writes for the Journal News newspaper and covers Westchester and Rockland counties. She frequently covers events at The Armory and has been one of the leading sources of coverage and information about rising stars such as Mary Cain of Bronxville High and Katelyn Tuohy of North Rockland, among many, many others. Haggerty won the 2016 Stan Saplin Award, given annually by The Armory to a noted journalist who covers the sport in the New York area. Her home in Somers, N.Y. was apparently struck by lightning in a storm. She lost pets and most of her possessions. There is a GoFundMe account set up to assist her. Any assistance to this cause is greatly appreciated. More news |
