Starliper Rolls, North Allegheny Gets Historic Sweep in PA By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Junior Marlee Starliper won her second consecutive Pennsylvania Class AA state title Saturday with a 56-second victory in 17:53 at Parkview Golf Course. Starliper, who was 13th at Foot Locker nationals last year, is primed for another strong run in the postseason. North Allegheny became the first school in state history to sweep the boys and girls AAA team titles. The boys, led by the 2-3 finish of Zachary Kinne and Daniel McGoey, scored 90 points to beat top challengers from LaSalle College (112), Downingtown West (121) and Seneca Valley (122). Junior Patrick Anderson of Mt. Lebanon got the jump on the North Allegheny duo in the final stretch and won the individual title in 16:03. The North Allegheny girls amassed 65 points with five non-senior scorers. The Tigers put three in the top 17. Freshman Jenna Mulhern of West Chester Henderson won the AAA race in 18:42. Elsewhere in Class AA, the Greensburg Salem boys put three in the top 21 to secure the team title with 63 points. Up front, senior Jonah Powell of Grove City Senior ran 16:29 for the win. Taryn Parks of Greencastle Antrim, another 2017 Foot Locker finalist, was behind Starliper in second in 18:49. Central Cambria won the team title with 91 points. Senior Jack Miller of Jenkintown won the Class A race in 16:33 and led his team to the championship as well. Isabel Sagar of Loyalsock Township was the class of the field in the Class A girls race, winning by 39 seconds in 19:12. Marion Cluster scored 96 points to win the team title.
