NY Feds Meet Canceled Due To Poor Course Conditions By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor An early winter storm has caused the New York Federation meet, one of the fixtures of the state's cross country calendar, to be canceled. Course conditions after a snowstorm this week provoked officials to call the meet off. Wedged between the New York state championship meet and NXR New York, the Federation meet was formerly the capstone to the season. It brings together the state's public and private high schools. Some coaches and teams placed added emphasis on Feds, and others do not. But even without the meet, and the opportunty it affords to all of the athletes who trained for it, there is yet another concern. Will the course at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., be in any better shape next week? The same course where Feds is held also plays host to two Nike Cross Regional meets -- New York and the Northeast. Lohud.com reports that Katelyn Tuohy, the top runner in the country, is running at the NXR New York meet. That means she is not planning to run at Foot Locker Northeast and hope that Nike selects her as an at-large participant. She plans to run with her team in order to try and qualify as a group to the national meet in Portland. More news |
