Usain Bolt Ends Pursuit of Pro Soccer ContractBy Adam Kopet ESPN reports Usain Bolt has officially ended his sports career. Bolt retired from the track following the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships. In his career, he set world records in the 100 (9.58) and 200 (19.19) meters. He also contributed to Jamaica's 4x100 relay world record of 36.84. In Bolt's long sprinting career, he won eight Olympic gold medals. He also won 11 IAAF World Outdoor Championships gold medals, as well as earning two silver medals and a bronze. After retiring from the track, Bolt pursued a professional career in soccer. He tried out with the Norwegian team Stromsgodset, as well as Germany's Borussia Dortmund, before landing a long-term trial with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia. The Mariners did offer Bolt a contract in December, but the team and Bolt's management could not agree on terms. The 32-year-old Bolt is now focused on business endeavors. More news |
