Drew Hunter Prepared For Return To Cross CountryPublished by
Drew Hunter Returning To XC For First Time Since 2015 Foot Locker By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Former high school prodigy Drew Hunter bucked the system and did things his own way after graduating from Loudoun Valley High in Purcellville, Va. Hunter, in the spring of 2016, turned pro and signed with adidas during the U.S. Olympic Trials and turned down the scholarship waiting for him at the University of Oregon. If he had gone the usual route, he would be a college junior. This weekend marks Hunter's return to a cross country course for the first time since he won the 2015 Foot Locker national title in San Diego. He has spent the past two years working on his speed in the 1,500 meters, lowering his personal best to 3:35.90. This week Hunter told his own story with a blog post, titled "The Return." At 21, he is maturing into the type of runner who can start making U.S. teams. Training in thin air of Colorado with coach Tom "Tinman" Schwartz, he continues to be one of the best U.S. distance running prospects ever. And according to his blog, he is growing up and learning the secrets to personal fulfillment and success. On Saturday, in Tallahassee, Fla., Hunter will reveal where his progress is at. More news |
