By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser threw two lifetime bests on back-to-back attempts and won with a mark of 74-7.25 (22.74m) on Saturday in Long Beach, Calif. at the Beach Invitational

The monster throw was the farthest in the world in 29 years and moves Crouser to No. 6 on the all-time world list.

Crouser's fourth attempt caused a huge outburst of emotion and eruption of cheers when it landed at 74-7 (22.73m). On his fifth attempt, Crouser went one centimeter further.

His sixth and final attempt was a foul.

All five of Crouser's legal throws went past 21 meters.

NCAA indoor champion Payton Otterdahl improved his career best, throwing 70-1.50 (21.37m) for second place and a new North Dakota State record.
