Isabel Hebner Transfers from Penn to TexasPublished by
Isabel Hebner Leaves Penn and Goes South to TexasBy Adam Kopet Paul Schwartz of the New Jersey Record reports Isabel Hebner has left Penn after her freshman year and is transferring to Texas. As was previously reported, her twin sister, Monica, was also on the move this summer, transferring from Duke to UCLA. In her freshman year at Penn, Hebner finished with personal bests of 16:38.05 for 5,000 meters and 34:32.03 for 10,000 meters. She finished 27th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division 1 East Preliminary. She also featured as a regular contributor to the Penn women's cross country team. Hebner competed for Norther Highlands NJ in high school. During her senior year in 2018, Hebner placed fourth in the 5,000 meters at New Balance Nationals Indoor and sixth in the same race outdoors. In addition to Texas, Oregon was also on Hebner's interest list. However, the pull of family and a more balanced life pulled her toward Texas. Hebner's older brother is a student at Texas and her grandfather is a professor there. After losing three seniors to graduation from the team that ran at the 2018 NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships, Hebner could be in position to make an immediate impact for the Longhorns come the fall. |
