Marcellus Moore To Skip Senior Track Season For Early Start In College FootballPublished by
Marcellus Moore Commits To Purdue For Football, Plans Enroll Early By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Plainfield North rising senior Marcellus Moore, one of the best sprinters in Illinois history and a gold medalist in the 4x100-meter relay at the Pan American U-20 Championships last month, is headed toward a football career at Purdue. Over the past week, Moore made his announcement and declared that he intends to graduate early and enroll at Purdue next January in order to get acclimated to college. That means Moore won't be back at the Illinois state meet, where he starred in May with victories in the 100 and 200 meters for the second straight year. Moore tied up with a hamstring pull in the 200 meters but managed to hold on and secure the dramatic win.
In late June, Moore was a participant at Nike Elite Camp and he ran 10.46 for second place in the boys 100 meters at the Prefontaine Classic at Stanford. Moore placed fourth at the USATF U-20 Championships in the 100 meters to make the relay pool. He teamed with Arian Smith, Justin Ofotan and Matthew Boling to run 38.62 seconds, a World U-20 record. Moore ran his PR times of 10.31 seconds in the 100 meters and 20.88 in the 200 as a sophomore. More news |
