Eisenhower's Jonas Price Breaks James Mwaura Record At Fort Steilacoom By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Jonas Price is 2 for 2 with course records at big invitationals to start the cross country season. The senior from Eisenhower High in Yakima, Wash., ran 14:50.1 to break the meet record at the Brooks Fort Steilacoom Invitational on Saturday south of Tacoma. Kamiakin put five runners in the top 18 to claim the team title with 40 points. Camas was second with 82. Camas won the girls gold race with 53 points, led by Halle Jenkins' second-place finish. Sophomore Gabby Martin of Life Christian won the girls race in 18:20.4. James Mwaura of Tacoma's Lincoln High ran 15:03 at the meet in 2017 and later went on to place fourth at Nike Cross Nationals. Price, who is the son of former Washington State steeplechaser Robert Price, broke the meet record Sept. 7 at the Ash Creek Preserve XC Classic in Monmouth, Ore. on Sept. 7. Eisenhower will be at the Bellevue Invitational next week before hosting the 46th Sunfair Invitational on Oct. 5. More news |
