Fast Marathons Highlight This Week's Performance of the Week List

This week we saw a world record and a world best in a special exhibition race. The Chicago Marathon and INEOS 1:59 Challenge grabbed headlines, but we also saw top-flight performances across the country on high school cross country courses. Lawrence Cherono: The distance runner from Kenya won the Chicago Marathon in a sprint finish, running 2:05:45. (Results).

Zofia Dudek: The high school senior from Ann Arbor Pioneer MI won the River Rat Open by 1:14, running 16:46 for 5K. (Results).

Katelynne Hart: The high school senior from Glenbard West IL won the Naperville Twilight Invitational by seven seconds, running 16:26 for 3 miles. (Results). Watch the race.

Eliud Kipchoge: The distance runner from Kenya headlined the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, running 1:59:40.2 for the marathon distance. (Results).

Brigid Kosgei: The distance runner from Kenya broke the women’s mixed race world record at the Chicago Marathon by 1:21, running 2:14:04. (Results).

Liam Murphy: The high school senior from Allentown NJ won the Eastern States race at the Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational by three seconds, running 12:15 for 2.5 miles. (Results). Watch the race.

Kate Peters: The high school freshman from Lincoln OR won the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational by nine seconds, running 16:58 for 5K. (Results).

Jonas Price: The high school senior from Eisenhower WA won the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational by 23 seconds, running 14:49 for 5K. (Results).

Corie Smith: The high school senior from Buchanan CA won the ASICS Clovis Invitational by four seconds, running 16:53 for 5K. (Results). Watch the race.
