Chloe Cunliffe Chooses to Turn Pro Instead of Competing for Washington State

Chloe Cunliffe reached rarefied air as she broke the high school records in the indoor and outdoor pole vault this year as a senior at West Seattle WA. Jeff Hollobaugh of Track and Field News reports Cunliffe will skip collegiate competition and turn pro.

Cunliffe jumped 14-9.25 (4.50m) indoors to break the overall high school record indoors. She followed that with a 14-8 (4.47m) clearance at the Arcadia Invitational, bettering the outdoor high school record.

After signing with Washington State, Cunliffe will instead follow in her sister's footsteps and turn pro early. Hannah Cunliffe left Oregon before her senior year. Both are represented by Paul Doyle.

Cunliffe will remain in the Seattle area and will be coached by Pat Licari and her father, Mike Cunliffe. She has not yet signed a sponsorship contract.
