Mondo's World Record Competition Bib Raises $3,000 US By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The bib Mondo Duplantis wore when he broke the world record in the pole vault for the first time, Feb. 8 at the Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland fetched the equivalent of nearly $3,000 USD this week. European Athletics reported that the auctioned item received 144 bids and raised 30,000 Swedish krona. Duplantis has grandparents in Sweden on his mother's side as well as his father's parents in Louisiana, two areas that have been hard hit by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The proceeds are to be steered toward helping those at the highest risk of contracting the disease, the report said. More news |
