Shawnti Jackson Sprint Triple Includes US#1 52.32 400; Cuthbertson Sweeps 4A Titles

Shawnti Jackson, the national record holder in the 60 meters indoors, showed the full range of what she can do outdoors with a 100-200-400 triple at the North Carolina state championships at Greensboro. 

Jackson, a junior at Wakefield, ran 11.45 (US# 11.44 prelim) in the 100 meters, US#3 23.19 in the 200 and US#1 52.32 in the 400. She also anchored the winning 4x400 relay. 

Cuthbertson pulled big points out of the mid-distances on the way winning the 4A team championship. Sophomore Charlotte Bell (2:12.23) and Justine Preisano (2:13.35) went 1-2 in the 800 final for the Cavaliers. The team also had two scorers in the 1,600 and 3,200 finals and won the 4x800 (9:12.43).

Terrell Robinson Jr of Mount Tabor ran a personal best 10.31 to win the 4A boys 100 meters and also added a victory in the 200 with 21.32 into a -1.8 headwind.

Cuthbertson won the team title as Kilian Fahy ran 47.23 to win the 400 meters and contributed to wins in the 4x100 relay and 4x200 relay and a second-place finish in the 4x400. 

In Class 3A, Isaiah Monroe won a sprint triple with 10.91/21.12/48.13 to lead Dudley to the team championship. Dudley also won the 4x400 (3:22.40). 

Emma Hall led West Henderson to the girls team championship by winning both hurdles events. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.07 and the 300s in 45.69. West Henderson also won the 4x800 relay. 

Sophomore Jonathan Paylor was a triple winner for Cummings, which won the 2A boys championship. Paylor won the 100 (11.19), 200 (21.96) and 400 (49.24). Teammates Dylantae James and Christian Gore won the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, respectively. 

Joyasia Smith won the 2A girls 100 (12.04) and 200 (25.19) to lead R-S Central to a team title. She was also part of a fourth-place 4x100 relay. 

Trevin Moyer led Mountain Island Charter to a 1A team victory with a sensational prformance. He ran a state-leading time of 46.97 to win the 1A 400-meter final. Moyer won a sprint triple that also included 10.66 in the 100 meters and 21.78 in the 200 meters. Teammate Jaylin Milton-Hall was second in both the 100 and 200 and third in the 400. 

Matthew Gray of Swain County won the 1A pole vault with 15-2. Ali Currie from Albemarle jumped 46-8w for first place in the triple jump. 

Lauren Tolbert from Highland Tech demonstrated her range of talents by winning the 100-200-800 combo. She ran a meet-record 2:09.37 to win the 800 meters and also 12.54 and 25.57 in the sprints. She has six outdoor state titles. She also won a cross country title last fall. 

Swain County freshman Arizona Blankenship placed second in the 800, the 1,600 and the 3,200 for 24 points that contributed to the team championship. She was also on the winning 4x800 relay. 

Briley Bickerstaff of Riverside-Martin won the 1,600 (5:12.30) and 3,200 (11:14.47).

Class 1A - Mountain Island Charter boys 99 points, Swain County girls 80 points - RESULTS
