No. 1 Saratoga Springs Girls Put Four In The Top Nine On The Way To 23 Points

The ongoing dominance of the Saratoga Springs girls cross country team was on display in back to back weeks at the New York (NYSPHSAA) and Federation meets. 

The top-ranked team in the country and the defending (2019) Nike Cross Nationals champions showed that it appears ready to contend for another national championship. The Silver Streaks put four in the top nine of the Class A final, with Emily Bush (third), Sheridan Wheeler (fifth), Alycia Hart (seventh) and McKinley Wheeler (ninth). 

Sophomore Zariel Macchia of William Floyd won the Class A girls race in 18:02.6 and had a margin of 16 seconds over Frontier Central sophomore Lillie Bogdan

The fastest time on the V-V-S course came in Class B, where Karrie Baloga of Cornwall Central ran 17:49.0. Her winning margin was 95 seconds. 

Angelina Napoleon from Allegany-Limestone ran 18:14.1 for the Class C title and won her race by 75 seconds. 

Brynn Bernard from South Lewis Central won the small-school Class D title in 19:20.4.

Corning-Painted Post won its second consecutive Class A boys team title with 60 points. Ashton Bange led the way with a seventh-place finish. 

Solomon Holden-Betts from Baldwinsville was the individual winner in a time of 16:06.9. Ethan Green of Arlington was second in 16:09.1. Collin Gilstrap from second-place Monroe-Woodbury (77 points) was third in 16:11.4 and he went ont to win Feds at Bowdoin Park the following week.  

Maximus Haynia from Westhampton Beach won the Class B title in 16:09.7 as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake rolled to the team win with 35 points. 

Bennett Melita from Fonda-Fultonville took the win in Class C, with 16:36.6. Bronxville won the team title with 78 points. 

In Class D, brothers Adam Furman (16:21.2) and Van Furman (16:44.5) went 1-2 to lead Tri-Valley to the team title.

Class B - Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys 35 points, Sayville girls 49 points - RESULTS

Class C - Bronxville boys 78 points, East Aurora girls 53 points - RESULTS

Class D - Tri-Valley boys 39 points, Voorheesville girls 53 points - RESULTS

Federation Champions - RESULTS

Boys - Monroe-Woodbury 109 points

Girls - Saratoga Springs 20 points
