A pair of collegiate all-time marks, the arrival of a 25-year-old freshman and a dominant performance by a high school standout against a collegiate field were among the highlights Friday and Saturday at the Corky Classic at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.

LSU’s Michaela Rose and Baylor’s Nathaniel Ezekiel both ran the fastest 600-yard races in NCAA history on a 200-meter banked track in a span of 15 minutes Saturday, with Boerne Champion High sophomore Elizabeth Leachman prevailing in the women’s 3,000 meters after Texas Tech freshman Temitope Adeshina set a Nigerian record Friday with a world-leading high jump clearance of 6-5 (1.96m).

Rose clocked 1 minute, 16.76 seconds to eclipse the 1982 mark of 1:17.38 established by Tennessee’s Delisa Walton. Rose ran 1:17.58 on the same track last season at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open.

Garriel White, Rose’s teammate at LSU, clocked 1:19.13 to elevate to No. 14 in collegiate history.

Ezekiel prevailed in 1:07.44 to take down the 2019 standard of 1:07.67 achieved by Iowa State’s Roshon Roomes. Ezekiel ran 1:08.41 last season at the Texas Tech Shootout.

Texas’ Jonathan Jones produced a 1:06.68 effort on the oversized track at Iowa State at last year’s Big 12 Championships for the fastest mark by a collegiate athlete on any indoor surface.

LSU’s Sean Burrell clocked 1:08.23 to place second Saturday and ascend to No. 8 in collegiate history.

Adeshina matched the No. 9 indoor competitor in collegiate history with her third-attempt clearance Friday, matching the Sports Performance Center facility record established in 2020 by 13-time U.S. champion Vashti Cunningham.

Since World Athletics elevated the Olympic qualifying standard in 2022 to 6-5.50 (1.97m), Adeshina is still pursuing the opportunity to represent Nigeria this summer in Paris.

Leachman triumphed in 9:16.84 in the 3,000 to ascend to the No. 11 all-time indoor prep competitor, winning against a collegiate field by more than 40 seconds.

Canadian professional pole vaulter Anicka Newell cleared 15-2.25 (4.63m) on her second attempt to secure victory.

Kentucky senior Keaton Daniel achieved a 19-0.25 (5.80m) clearance Friday to take over the collegiate lead.

Devynne Charlton, a PUMA professional competitor from the Bahamas, led four athletes to sub-8 performances in the women’s invitational 60-meter hurdles by clocking a world-leading 7.75 seconds.

American athletes Tia Jones (7.80), Masai Russell (7.88) and Christina Clemons (7.89) rounded out the top four.

LSU’s Alia Armstrong won the women’s collegiate 60 hurdles final by clocking 7.90, with Central Florida’s Rayniah Jones running 8.01 and Leah Phillips of LSU taking third in 8.07 and Kentucky freshman Emmi Scales finishing fourth in 8.19.

Tamara Clark, an adidas professional athlete, won the women’s invitational 60-meter dash in 7.21, with Lynna Irby-Jackson running 7.25. Clark also earned the 200 win in 22.71.

Ohio State’s Leah Bertrand triumphed in the women’s collegiate 60-meter dash final in 7.20.

Emmanuel Matadi of Liberia clocked 6.63 in the men’s invitational 60-meter dash, ahead of Ronnie Baker and Adam Clayton, both at 6.64.

LSU’s Myles Thomas edged Baylor’s De’montray Callis by a 6.611 to 6.620 margin in the collegiate 60-meter dash final.

Michael Dickson won the men’s 60 hurdles in 7.52.

Kentucky’s Kennedy Lightner took the men’s 200 in 20.42.

Former Texas Tech standout Ruth Usoro, representing Nigeria, triumphed in the women’s triple jump in 45-7 (13.89m). Texas Tech senior Ruta Lasmane, competing for Latvia, was second in 44-11.75 (13.71m), the top collegiate indoor mark this season.
