Boerne Champion TX Sophomore Runs 9:43.74 At Another Early Season February Meet By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Bert Richardson photos For the third Thursday in a row, Elizabeth Leachman of Boerne Champion in Texas has run one of the fastest 3,200-meter races in prep history. In fact, she now owns the three fastest times after breaking her own record with 9:43.74 at the Boerne Greyhound Relays. All three of the races have come in meets with modest competition where Leachman had to push herself and race the clock. Her time Thursday was nearly two seconds faster than the 9:45.57 that she ran on Feb. 1 to break Katelyn Tuohy's national high school record. A week later, she ran 9:46.51. Last Saturday, Leachman traveled to New York for the 116th Millrose Games, but didn't have the same outcome. She led the early part of the race but tied up near the end and finished eighth in 4:48.55. Still, it was a PR. More news |
