Racing in his final state prep meet in Tennessee, Brentwood’s Hudson Allain made sure it was a memorable one. The senior won the 400-meter dash title in a new state meet record time of 46.60 seconds, beating a 54-year-old time (46.74) that was set in 1970 by Darwin Bond. His time, US#22, also tied the all-time TSSAA record. Allain added to his historic performance by winning the 200 (21.53) and was the anchor of the winning 4x200 and 4x400 relays, helping Brentwood defend the program’s Division I Class AAA state team title at Dean A. Hayes Stadium at Middle Tennessee State (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). In Division I girls Class AAA action, Collierville dominated with 131 points. In the distance events, standout junior Claire Stegall of Nolensville, claimed the 800 in a meet record time of 2:08.63, and also won the 1,600 title (4:58.73). The Division I Class AA titles were won by the Greeneville boys and Signal Mountain girls. Signal Mountain sophomore Marlee Burkley won the high jump, 100 hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles, claiming the pentathlon title with 3,051 points. In Division I Class A action, the East Nashville Magnet School and Memphis East girls tied Wirth 78 points a piece for the state title. On the boys side, Memphis East ran away with the state title, scoring 110 points. Knoxville Webb standout distance runner Colin Eckerman won the Division II Class AA 1,600 title in a state record time of 4:04.55 and also added a state title in the 3,200 (9:12.93). In Division II Class AA Christian Brothers junior Ashton Hearn swept the throws, winning the discus title with a distance of 199-5, a US#13 mark. He also won the shot put (61-1), leading Christian Brothers to a second place team finish. In Division II Class A action, the Franklin Road Academy boys and girls swept the team titles. Individually, The Webb School’s (Bell Buckle) Abby Faith Cheeseman won the 3,200 in a meet record time of 10:11.35. new meet record time of 10:11.35, nearly two minutes faster than the runner-up. She also won the 1,600 (5:02.23) and 800 (2:21.51).
