MONTANA STATE MEET Nathan Neil Puts Stamp On State Record Book With 4:04/8:53 Double In Great Falls; Gallatin Boys, Helena Girls Win AA Titles By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Bozeman High senior Nathan Neil made an impression that could last for many years at the Montana state track and field championships last weekend. Neil, who owns all of the all-time state bests from the 1,500 meters up o the 3,200, dominated his final state championship meet with records in the 1,600 meters (4:04.89) and 3,200 (8:53.19). Neil, who run at Washington next fall, has run faster times at sea level. But inside Montana's borders, and with Great Falls at 3,300-foot elevation, they were his fastest performances in Big Sky Country. Gallatin's Nash Coley broke the all-time state record in the 300 hurdles with 36.91. Coley helped lead his team to the boys AA championship. Flathead broke the all-time state best in the boys 4x100 relay with its winning time of 41.47 seconds. Flathead's top sprinters finished 2-3-4 in the 200 meters final. Billings Skyview's Ryan Dierenfield swept the 100 (10.88) and 200 (21.98). The Helena girls rolled up 129 points to win the team title, which included wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Junior Madilyn Todorovich was second in the 200 meters and won the 300 hurdles (44.50). Senior Logan Todorovich was part of the 4x100 victory and also won the 100 meters (12.08) and 100 hurdles (14.80) and high jump (5-6).
