Manny Putz, Steven Point Boys Complete Three-Peat; Neenah Girls Back On Top For First Time Since 2012 By Keenan Gray of DyeStat Manny Putz added another state title to his legacy and the Stevens Point boys continued its state-wide dominance at the Wisconsin Cross Country State Championships on Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. Putz of Onalaska, who will head to the University of Wisconsin next fall, needed every bit of energy in the end to pull away from De Pere’s Grady Lenn by two seconds to win his third consecutive Division 1 individual title, running 15 minutes, 7.5 for the 5-kilometer race. Ethan Olds (15:25.8, 4th) and Cooper Erickson (15:48.1, 9th) earned top 10 individual finishes to lead Stevens Point to a third straight Division 1 team title, beating Marquette University 77-129. Mazie Olkowski ran 18:35.3 to place fourth and Elsa Gruber ran 18:44.6 to place seventh to lead Neenah to its first state title since 2012, taking down Wauwatosa East 57-123 in the Division 1 girls field. Muskego’s Ella Anschutz outlasted Verona Area’s Izzy Decabooter over the last mile to win the individual title in 18:04.5. Kohler claimed the Division 2 boys team title for the first since 1995, outscoring West Salem 77-114 behind Brn Regennitter finishing 10th in 16:11.6. Jack Heft of Whitewater ran 15:46.5 to take the individual win over Waupaca’s Owen Lencki by five seconds. Emmerson Drobac of Deerfield/Cambridge and Ciara Hartman of Bloomer both ran sub-18 minutes in a close Division 2 girls race, with Drobac coming out on top in 17:38.9 and Hartmand in second in 17:43.2. University School of Milwaukee, led by Bella Grenier (18:24, 5th), Annie Norman (18:32.7, 6th) and Cate Kohli (19:08.2, 10th), scored 60 points to claim the Division 2 team title. Declan Gregg of Aquinas captured the Division 3 boys title in 15:52.7 and Cedar Grove-Belgium scored 98 points for the team win.
