Mekhi Prather, Imani Moore Fastest Of The Day On The 60-Meter Straightaway By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Jaelyn Martin of Str8 Smokin Track Club dominated the oldest age group of the boys 400 meters on Sunday at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex, the final day of action at the AAU Indoor National Championships. Martin (Cass Tech MI) won his final in 49.35 seconds. Sadie Bates, running unattached out of Georgia, won the girls 17-18 400 meters final in 55.81 seconds and was four seconds clear at the finish line. There were also fast results in the 15-16 age group. Jordan Hughes-Waller of Next Generation Defender grabbed the lead at the break and won the boys 15-16 final in 49.48 seconds, defeating Brandon Kuhn of Str8 Smokin Track Club (49.74). Cayla Hawkins completed her age 15-16 200/400 double by winning the two-lap final in 57.01 seconds. In addition to relays, Sundays finals crowned champions in the 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 1,500 meters, shot put and long jump. Mekhi Prather from Southern Sprinters Elite Track won the boys 60-meter dash final in 6.89 seconds in the 17-18 age group, edging out Kymanni Johnson (6.91). Imani Moore, in the 15-16 age group, ran the fastest 60 dash time of the day for the girls with 7.72 seconds. Amarah Crabbe of Mt Airy Track finished second in 7.84 seconds. Liliah Jones of NVA Track won the girls 17-18 dash final in 7.82 seconds. Lachlan Tillotson from Elite Performance XL won the boys 17-18 60 hurdles in 8.49 seconds. Damira Allen from Chester Cheetahs Track Club ran a time of 8.81 seconds to win the girls 17-18 hurdles final. More news |
