American Runs 12.87 Personal Best To Join Elite Group; Chase Jackson Dominates Shot Put; Armand Duplantis Breaks Meet Record By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Photo courtesy Diamond League AG Cordell Tinch added to what has already been a fantastic weekend in hurdles events, running a world-leading and personal best 12.87 seconds in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the Shanghai/Keqiao Diamond League meet, the second Chinese stop in two weeks to begin the Wanda Diamond League season. Tinch, in his second year as a professional after starring at NCAA D2 Pittsburg State (Kan.), moved into a tie for No. 4 all-time in the event behind fellow Americans Aries Merritt, Grant Holloway and Devon Allen. Norwegian Karsten Warholm ran a world-leading time of 47.21 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles. Grace Stark won the women's 100-meter hurdles in a meet record time of 12.42 seconds. Eight women went under 2 minutes in a fast 800 meters, with Tsigie Duguma running an Ethiopian national record 1:56.63 to take the win. Sarah Billings of Australia was second in 1:57.83. American's Addison Wiley and Sage Hurta-Klecker were fifth and seventh, respectively. Sweden's Armand Duplantis broke his own meet record with a clearance at 6.11m (20-0.50) to win the men's pole vault. Greece's Emmanouil Karalis also surpassed 6 meter, with a make at 6.01m (19-8.50) for second place. Chase Jackson had the four longest throws of the women's shot put competition and won with a season's best mark of 20.54m (67-4.75). Valarie Allman won the women's discus with the only throw beyond 70 meters as she hit 70.08m (229-11) in the fifth round. Jorinde Van Klinken was second with a season's best 66.22m (217-3). World leader Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine cleared 2.00m (6-6.75) to win the women's high jump. Nicola Olyslagers from Australia was second with 1.98m (6-6). Anavia Battle won her second Diamond League title in the women's 200 meters with a dominating 22.38 seconds. She also won the event in Xiamen. Christopher Bailey ran a personal best time of 44.17 seconds to get the win in the men's 400. Olympic champion Quincy Hall was eighth (last) in 45.99. Akani Simbine of South Africa edged out Kishane Thompson of Jamaica in the men's 100 meters, 9.98 to 9.99. Berihu Aregawi led a 1-2-3 Ethiopian finish in the men's 5,000 meters and broke the meet record with his time of 12:50.45. Another Ethiopian, Abrham Sime, won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with 8:07.92. Portugal's Pedro Pichardo won the men's triple jump by three centimeters with 17.03m (56-9.25) on his first attempt. Elina Tzengko from Greece won the women's javelin with a throw of 64.90m (212-11).
