Brian Musau of Oklahoma State, the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor 5,000 meters champion, became the third college runner to dip under 13 minutes in the 5,000 meters with his victory in 12:59.82. Behind Musau, Rocky Hansen of Wake Forest ran a personal best 13:07.77 and Dylan Jacobs of On Athletics Club was third with 13:11.97. BYU's Riley Chamberlain and Meghan Hunter also enjoyed personal best performances that placed them among the top 10 on the all-dates college lists. In the women's 1,500 meters, Josette Andrews of On Athletics Club ran near her personal best with 4:00.10 and Chamberlain followed her over the line in 4:02.03. Hunter won the women's 800 meters in 1:58.21 as the top five broke 2 minutes. Maggi Congdon of Nike Swoosh TC, who recently completed her college career at NAU, was second in 1:58.55. Emily Mackay of New Balance was third with 1:58.72 and Sage Hurta-Klecker of On Athletics Club was fourth in 1:58.89. Bailey Hertenstein of Nike won the women's 5,000 meters in a personal best time of 14:48.91, one second ahead of Taylor Roe of Puma. Four of the top five finishers ran lifetime bests. Alicia Monson of On Athletics Club returned to the track after a long recovery from surgery, finishing in sixth place with 15:01.63. Drew Hunter of Asics held off a crowd in the homestretch of the men's 1,500 meters and broke the tape in 3:33.41. Sair Salgado of Under Armour Dark Sky (3:33.87) and Sam Prakel of Adidas (3:33.89) both went under 3:34 and ran personal bests. In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Isaac Updike of Under Armour Dark Sky won with 8:13.68 and Yasin Sado of Asics was second in 8:15.91. Navasky Anderson of Jamaica (Under Armour) won the men's 800 meters in 1:44.40, barely holding off Abe Alvarado of Under Armour Dark Sky (1:44.47) and the University of Oregon's Matti Erickson, who ran a personal best 1:44.49. Hobbs Kessler of Adidas was fourth in 1:44.77. Canadian Grace Fetherstonhaugh ran a personal best time of 9:28.42 to win the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Abdi Nur of Nike Swoosh TC, coming back from a foot injury sustained at last year's Olympic Games, won the second section of the men's 5,000 in 13:34.86. In that same race, Crater OR teammates Tayvon Kitchen and Josiah Tostenson raced for the final time as teammates. Kitchen ran 13:53.20 for a personal best and No. 10 all-time prep performance for eighth and Tostenson was 14th in 14:15.94. Kitchen and Tostenson both have NIL deals with New Balance. Senayet Getachew of Adidas won the women’s 10,000 meters to end the meet in a time of 30:36.67. She was 11 seconds clear of second-place Asayech Ayichew. More news |
