John Dye Girls Dual Meet Championship 2025 - First-Round SummariesPublished by
By David Woods for DyeStat Here are summaries of the first-round matchups: WEST REGIONAL Humble Atascocita TX 71.5, Edmond Memorial OK 60.5 Humble Atascocita did not win the Class 6A state meet in Texas, but the team's combination of talents from sprints and relays to field events, makes it the best for this format in the Lone Star State and a threat to win the title. However, Edmond Memorial proved to be a stout first round opponent. Atascocita's junior twins Mia and Mariah Maxwell covered the sprints and helped drive incredible relay times in the 4x100 and 4x200. Mariah Maxwell ran 22.77w (22.94 wind legal) and also won the long jump with 19-7. Mia Maxwell ran 11.04 in the 100. The team also has Jayden Kimble, who threw 45-1 in the shot put and 165-11 in the discus this spring. The Oklahoma champs got a 1-2 finish in the 800 with Sienna Collins (2:13.94) and Jenna Doolen (2:14.23). Also, Victoria Juneau and Cai Munson were 1-2 in the pole vault and the Bulldogs won the 4x400. Wayzata MN 64.5, Waukee Northwest IA 63.5 This one came down to the high jump, in which Charlotte Berns leaped 5-2 to tie for third and score one-half point for Wayzata in a one-point victory over Waukee Northwest. Allie Berns won the high jump at 5-4, and Katie Kelzenburg swept the throws with distances of 41-8.50 and 156-8. Both were all-conference basketball players for Wayzata. Long Beach Wilson CA 103, Centennial NV 40 For the second straight year, Long Beach Wilson opened with a victory over Centennial of Las Vegas. Last year's 16-point margin ballooned to more than 60. The Arkansas signee won the 100 hurdles in 13.79 and 300 hurdles in a US#3 40.28. She was also in the 4x400 relay that won in 3:36.75 for US#2. The outcome went down to the 4x400 relay, in which Chandler won, 3:46.52 to 3:48.93. Highlight of the meet was duels between hurdlers Imani Galera-Young of Chandler and Reese Kasper of Niwot.
