National High School Records Through the Years Girls Outdoor Record – Pentathlon Joan Mayweather (Muir High School, Pasadena, California) Performance – 3,333 points Date – October 27, 1956 Place – Pasadena, California Meet – AAU Championships Previous Record – 3,170 by Ann Marie Flynn (Cathedral Catholic, New York City) at the AAU October, 15, 1955, in Morristown, New Jersey Mayweather finished fourth at AAU Nationals 59 years ago today, beating the previous prep recordholder, Miss Flynn, by more than 200 points. The event breakdown for Mayweather is not known. She is believed to have been 15 years old at the time of this performance. An excellent high jumper, a year later she jumped 5-5, just an inch from the American record at the time. She was a protege of another Pasadena legend, Mack Robinson, an Olympian and brother of Jackie Robinson.
