Gonzaga All-American Rosina Machu-Shuri Set To Race 3,000 At Podium By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Gonzaga photo A busy week at The Podium begins with the Spokane Invitational, a college meet that serves as an early season opportunity primarily for Northwest schools. WATCH THE SPOKANE INVITATIONAL SATURDAY ON RUNNERSPACE+ Senior Rosina Machu-Shuri of Gonzaga, who was seventh in the NCAA 10,000 meters last June, is entered to run the 3,000 meters. Machu-Shuri already competed in the 5,000 meters last weekend at Boston University, where she ran 15:21.19 for a new personal best. In the men's 3,000, Gonzaga's Logan Law is the top entry (8:05.37). Law ran 13:59.48 for 5,000 meters last weekend in Boston. Law is also on the entry list in the mile, along with Boise State's Angus Fitzgerald. Washington freshman pole vaulter Veronica Vacca, the New Balance Nationals Indoor and Outdoor champion, will make her college debut for the Huskies. Jimmy Rhoads, a Washington transfer from Penn, is also set for his season debut in the pole vault. He placed sixth at the NCAA Championships last June. Top throws prospect Will Foster, a freshman at Washington, will make his debut in the shot put. He was the Class 3A state champion in the shot put and discus last spring at Prairie High. Washington's Jonathan Frazier is the top entry in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 400 meters. Dominick Corley of Eastern Washington, a former standout at Mead High, is the top entry in the men's 60. More news |
