Wilson Entered In Two Events On Saturday At The Armory By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor John Nepolitan Photo Bullis School MD is making the trip north to New York City on Saturday to participate in the Jim Mitchell Invitational at The Armory and it's a chance to put fall training to the test with a pre-Christmas meet. Senior Quincy Wilson, the high school national record holder in the 400 meters and a 2024 Paris Olympian, recently announced his much anticipated college decision and will be attending the University of Maryland next fall. WATCH THE JIM MITCHELL INVITATIONAL LIVE SATURDAY ON RUNNERSPACE+ Wilson has one more season at Bullis with coach Joe Lee and that is set to begin on Saturday. Wilson is on the entry list for the 500 meters, an event where he ranks third on the all-time list behind Andrew Salvodon and Will Sumner. Wilson's best is 1:01.27. The American record is 59.87. Wilson is also entered in the 55-meter dash. The top seed in the 55 is Alex Guthrie from South Lakes VA at 6.40, followd by Bullis' Cameron Homer (6.43). Homer and Guthrie are also in the 300 meters. One of the nation's top prep pole vaulters, Luke Beattie of Warwick Valley NY, is the top entry in both the 200 meters and the pole vault. Beattie opened the season with a 17-foot clearance at the Coach Saint Invitational on Dec. 12. Josh Johnson of Archbishop Stepinac NY is the top entry in the 600 meters. Bullis' Ewan Conroy and Michael Rynne of Iona Prep are the top entries in the boys mile. Rynne competed at the Brooks XC Championships last weekend in San Diego and finished 19th, Corey Woodson of The Lawrenceville School NJ is the top entry in the 55-meter hurdles. Connor Sullivan of Clarkstown South NY leads the field in the shot put. Warwick Valley's Isaiah Gonzalez is the top entry in the men's long jump at 23-11. Bullis' talented freshman newcomer Mya Arrendell is one to watch for in the girls sprint events. She is entered in th 55 dash and the 300 meters. Talented senior Laura Fiegel of the St. James Academy VA is also in both events. Bullis also has Kennedy Brown and Aida Joseph in the 55 and Kassidy Hopkins and Madison Brown in the 300. Jane Hickey of Ursuline School NY is the top entry in the 1,000 meters. The girls mile features Vivian Ostfeld of Riverdale Country NY. Bullis' Hopkins and Solai Russell top the list in the 55-meter hurdles. Ella Michelitch from Minisink Valley NY is the top high jumper in the meet and third in the long jump behnd Bullis' Alexis Brown and Arianna Montgomery of Tatnall DE. More news |
